Next Wrangler Could Lose Folding Windshield, Gain Power Top
#21
All the bits that have made wrangler what it is must stay. This is why Jeep is selling record numbers of the JK, but Jeep is not a American owned company any more. Fait is in trouble in it's home country and could easily sell Jeep off to China.

I personally wouldn't care if they took the folding windshield away. It looks and sounds like it's a PITA to do and looks hideous on JKs. Older jeeps can pull it off but definitely not on a jk.
What needs to stay is;
The round headlights
7 slot grill.
Spare tire on back.
Solid axles.
Removable top. (specially one like the freedom top)
Removable doors.
What could go is;
The POS and under powered drive train. (all of it)
Folding windshield.
What I would like to see;
Better engine such as a Hemi or diesel. Diesel would be better due to how much torque you can get out of them.
Something like an 8 speed transmission
Better gears from the factory
4.1 TC standard on base models

What you want vs what you get ; hmm, lets bet . I say the Wrangler gains composite body panels to save weight ; gains alloy suspension/ axle components IF it does not go independent ; gains steer by wire to save weight and hp ; gains diesel , gains 9 sp auto . Gains factory sprayed bedliner . Gains slightly more aerdynamic shape. Gains an entry level Stripper so we can still afford the damn thing . Loses folding windshield ; Bets on !
