Next-gen Wrangler will keep solid axles
#21
One thing in the article that no one has commented on is that the new Wrangler will be smaller than the JK. I for one have never felt the JK is too big. It will be interesting to see just how much smaller it ends up being. I don't think they will drop the 4 dr. Too many being sold.

Fiat would be dumb to drop the 4-door option but the JKU still isn't their top seller by a longshot across the whole Fiat/Chrysler line so they probably don't look at it in the same way we would. They may figure other products in their line would make up any difference.

I think the JK 2-door proportions are bit weird but the JKU is perfect... plenty of room for people/stuff but not to too big for just about any trail and very balanced/good looking. I might be biased though!

Is not what? "The next-generation Jeep Wrangler will keep the floating solid axles considered key to the off-roader's ability to traverse nearly any terrain, Automotive News has learned."
They didn't mince words. That doesn't read like speculation. Automotive News is a reliable news source. Doesn't mean they are never wrong, but you're wrong to categorize them as speculating based on what they are reporting.

If the doors and top do not come off it will suck. That would be a huge mistake. That's the only thing that separates the Jeep "ON ROAD" from everything else. We all know If they keep steering it toward the yuppies and soccer moms. It will no longer be a Jeep. I'm sure the people at Chrysler/Fiat are all to aware of this and will design it accordingly... Hell I bet all the college girls wouldn't ask daddy buy them Jeeps anymore either if the top doesn't come off. What's the point? Just get a Toyota.
