newsweek: Chrysler, R.I.P.
http://www.newsweek.com/id/166659.
Newsweek:
"I tried to reach Iacocca to hear his epitaph for the company he once saved. But his secretary says he doesn't want to talk about it. Friends, though, say he's saddened by this turn of events"
NY times:
A deal to merge General Motors and Chrysler has hit an impasse after the Bush administration ruled out financing for it, Reuters reported, citing three people with direct knowledge of the talks.
Me:
I think "Jeep is still Worth 2 billion and who ever buys it has intentions of keeping it going".

Somehow I doubt all of this will happen, 2 million lost jobs if it does? That would put the country into a depression.
Gas prices have been dropping like a rock, might help pick things up if it stays lower. Would be a heck of a lot better if we started our on oil production program to improve things drastically and thus garauntee lower prices.

The GM buyout is B.S. They are going to do the same thing to Chrysler that bankruptcy court would. I say GM can buy Chrysler if the taxpayers don't have to chip in a dime; otherwise, let the bankruptcy court handle the knife.

Hopefully someone will purchase and save the Jeep line.
It doesn't look good though.
Maybe it will increase the value of our Jeeps though!

That's a damned shame. BUT, when you are banking on Avengers, Pacificas and Calibers to make your money, you're doomed to failure.
At least most reports are indicating that Jeep is a highly desirable division. Let's all keep our fingers crossed!
