It seems like I should get better fuel mileage coming home than going to Houston. It’s down hill coming home

As long as you look into getting 2012 and up, you’ll have the more efficient 36 motor. Just make sure it has a tow package. those come with 373 gears unlike mine I signed for it before I realized it had NO tow package. Meaning I got stuck with 321s! 🤦🏼*♂️🤦🏼*♂️🤦🏼*♂️
This info is wrong. Tow package does not equal 3.73. In 2012, the MAX tow package included 3.73 but not the regular tow package. This changed in later years and MAX tow was not an option. You'd have to choose Tow and also choose 3.73.

I bought mine pre owned. No tow hitch and 321 gears. Wasn’t meant to be misleading. But general rule of thumb after asking others in person when they didn’t have the factory tow hitch. Looked up vins and voila. 321 gears

General rule is that nearly all jkus from 2012 & later have the 3.21 gears. It is rare to find ones with 3.73. I ordered my Jku in 2012 specifically so I could get 3.73. No dealer within 200 miles had one in 3.73 at the time. As I stated, in 2012 there was Tow and Max Tow. Only the Max Tow included 3.73. At some point in the following years, Fiat did away with the Max Tow and they jacked the price up for the 3.73 gearing option, which was not automatically part of a tow package. Another tidbit, in 2012, only the Max Tow included the computer controlled anti-sway feature for trailer towing. In later years they included that as standard with all jkus.
