Default New tailgate design?

Can anyone answer for sure about why the tailgate vent got changed for the 2009-2010 JK? It's shorter and wider than the previous years. Does anyone know if the tailgate got a structural change or anything like that? I took the vent out of my 2010 JK and felt around inside. It looks and feels really solid. There's a lot of reinforcement where the spare tire carrier bolts in to.

I have not heard anything about the tailgate being redesigned. That does not mean it did not happen. If it were redesigned, I wish the tailgate would come from the factory, ready to hold a the weight of 35s

That would be cool but then how do you mount a full size spare to a fold down tailgate?

It would have to come from the factory with a bumper/tire carrier.

Id's be down with that. Of course, why would DC give us what we want from the factory?
