Default New JK Glue smell or fumes

My wife has noticed a very strong smell of glue in my new JK - I have to admit I don't notice it but perhaps I'm just overlooking it subliminally. She does notice it more on hot days. I have the hard freedom top on. I told her the answer is to just go topless - she didn't get it.

I think she might have a point though - I noticed the black sealant leaking around the top of the door one day - took tar remover to get it off the door. Looked like they just put too much on at the factory.

Anyone else having this problem?

I just came back from a 2 week vacation and noticed mine has a certain model airplane glue smell. I don't remember the smell before, but I also had the dealer install the hard top right before I left, so maybe the top has that gluey smell?

No biggie on the little overspray of sealant. Better too much than too little!

I have the same sealant "seep" issue or at least had it. I think it was where they added too much as well. I think the smell is the new hardtop. It goes away over time. My wife compared it to a chlorine smell.

Default Thanks for the replies guys

I've been acting like she was nuts because I never smelled it (well maybe a little) - but then again she can identify the one who farted from 100 feet

i had the exact same thing with the tar.i cleaned it up 4 times and now no more leaks out.the last time i cleaned it was about 2 months ago.i guess it was to much sealant put on at the factory.

Removed my front panels today in the hot sun and pulled up strings of sealent. Wind blew it all over the white side of the panels.

My sealant was from where the two front panels come together at the front and rear of them.

Yes, this is a common issue. I recommend taking it to the dealer and making them clean it
