Default New to the Jeep World, and now addicted

Ok, I just purchased a 2007 Unlimited X about 3 months ago, my first Jeep! Since then I've been lurking on the forums just to learn more about my Jeep and just in general, and I find myself wanting something newer now with less miles(I have about 60,000 now), so I can dump ridiculous amounts of money into it(because that seems like the thing to do) and be able to keep it a long time and use it as a daily driver.

I came across a new 2011 Rubicon, loaded, and I'm in love. They want $31,200 for it, and what I'm wanting to do know if this seems like a good deal, and what should I expect to get for my '07 on trade? My X has brand new 33" tires, a 2.5" lift, airraid intake and an aftermarket bumper. Its a softop, body is great, just doesn't have much for options.

The Rubicon has power everything, leather, hardtop, nav, electronic lockers and swaybar disco...on and on.

If anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated. I love the friendly atmosphere of the forums and the Jeep family in general and I know you guys will point me in the right direction!

I'm attaching images of the prospect cosmo blue rubi and my rescue green X!

Save the money keep the 07. 60,000 is not slot of miles for a jeep, or really vehicle these days. Still plenty of life left in it. I would dump the money into the 07.

Word of advice: don't upgrade until you can afford a 12, the same new interior of the 11, with the new engine that has 285 horsepower instead of like.. 202 I think? or was it 205, I don't know.

The price for the new one is not to bad, but it still have the old engine in it. If it was a new 2012, then it was a hole new game. I will keep the old one, but if they make you a good deal on a trade, I don't think they will, then do it if you are happy with the numbers.

I like your green one, wish they had still make them, but I am not a fan of that blue.

Pretty much this... There isn't much point of upgrading unless you get a 12' or newer.

Put loads of money into your '07, keep all the original parts, then later buy a 12 and move everything over.

Thanks for the input everyone. I did some research on the '12 and the new 3.6 sounds largely improved, so I think I'll be holding out. The Rubicon has a ton of options and would be a little better option for a daily driver, but I'll are what I can do with my X for now! Thanks again!

Good call on keeping the 07. If you are going to spend money like that definitely go with the 12!

And a 5 speed auto instead of 4. Awesome power compared to the 3.8
