Default New Jeep Owner!

Hey everyone, I'm a new owner and member here. I totalled my car last week which sucked, but in the end I am so happy because honestly my new 08 4 door unlimited x in the jeep green is my dream car. I wouldnt want any other car on the road. My last car was a car, but it had a manual transmission, and the only jeep green they had in stock was an automatic. I really wanted to leave with a vehicle on saturday (being that I was driving my moms pt cruiser all week and that couldnt last much longer), and i really loved everything about the jeep. I thought I would get used to it being automatic, but it has been bothering me a little bit. I was just wanted to get some of you guys perspective on the automatics, and the advantages and disadvantages of having an automatic wrangler. Today is the 4th day I've had it and I'm starting to get used to the idea of it being auto. The dealer said I could switch it out for a steel blue one thats manual with no tow package, but I decided I would rather have my green . The dealer said they would have to order me a new one that could take months in order to get it in my color and specs and everything. I am still so thankful to be driving my beautiful jeep, I was just wanting to see what you guys thoughts and opinions about the auto's and if I screwed up

Thanks a bunch guys, I look forward to showing pics of my new baby asap!

I've had both stick and auto in my past Jeeps. It is fun to drive a stick, but it gets old. I love the automatic.

Congradulations!! Like you my dream Jeep on the lot was an auto and I couldn't wait for them to transfer a manual and just bought it then and there.

I've driven 3 different Jeeps in the past that were all manual but for some reason my JK feels really nice with the auto (I even test drove a manual JK). I love it and hopefully it will grow on you.

LOL you better not ask or think about this. You might decide you want a stick! This is my 6th Wrangler, and all were manual except one.... just like you I had doubts about that auto tranny and even looked into trading it in within a month or so of purchase.... Drove me nuts... Finally got rid of it tho and never looked back. And hey, you've got an pretty accommodating dealer who would let you trade that sled back in! Good luck and enjoy that Jeep!

Congrats!!! and welcome to the board

Jeep Green was a great choice, I love mine!! Auto's and Manual's both have their pros/cons, I personally love my 6 spd, and of course as you can tell all of my wranglers have been stick. To each his own

Okay some like auto some like manual in the end it is what you like. Personally I like auto as it gives me less to worry about when offroading. I like the ability to be stopped on an incline and not have to manupuilate a clutch, brake and throttle all at once.

Congrats on the new Jeep. I always preferred a manual in the Jeep as I feel like i need more control or the horses. I like auto in everything else.

Congrats and good luck! I have driven manual trans my whole life, then I purchased my JK off the lot with the auto. After driving it for a while, I really like the auto. I guess it's the convenience thing, I don't have to shift when I'm in town, etc.. Anyway, have fun and don't forget to !!!
