New guy asking the dumb questions

First what's your trade in value? What are you trading? You're probably better off selling vs trading anyways cause dealers NEVER give you a good deal.
JK vs JKU main difference is obvious the room. But since you're looking at JKR vs a JKU then you already know for the extra $1000 you're getting more for your $$ in the Rubi than the JKU. But if you plan on doing aftermarket stuff down the road, then it's a toss up. Fiance has a bare bones JK sport and I can do whatever I want to it without feeling like she wasted money on extras.
As far as doors go, they are heavy on the JK. Way different than the older smaller Jeep doors lol They are a pain in the ass to take off and care around by yourself and there's no way you'd want to do a cross country trip with no doors. the amount of rocks, dust etc that would get into your face and Jeep isn't worth it. Best bet would be to buy aftermarket half doors and take those instead since those would fit in the back of the Jeep and are light weight.

Yeah I've been hitting my head on which one to go with. I think it'll end up being which one I enjoy driving most. I can mod later and around here I think th jku would sell best used.
My trade in is my mazda 3 and it is posted on craigslist, but everyone that has checked it out isn't willing to meet what ive been offered for trade in so far. They have till Saturday.
As far as doors off being windy, I thought thats what owning a jeep was all about..
Im not looking at anything older than 2012. Since last time I was at a dealer they were asking over sticker for a 2010 and didn't budge an inch. What im actually doing is using a dealer that I know very well that isn't going to try to make a fool of me and if I need to bring something off another lot that I can be happiest with. The only reason I am considering the JKUS is that the manager called ne telling me looking at it would be worth my time financially if I decided to go that route. Evidently its been on the lot for six months or more with only a few interested in it.

Unless your hauling kids around, I'd go with the 2dr JK. You wont regret the Rubi package, and it helps with resale if you ever need to. The 2dr is lighter and sportier to drive I think. If your going to run 35's, make sure you get 4.10 gears. Its a perfect match and the lower gear range in the Rubicon transfer case compliments it well.
Just my .02 cents.

Well I started including 2013s in my quest and opened up a lot of doors in the 4 door category. From pretty basic to pretty sahara without the color matching. My biggest problem with that deal of a Sahara is the 3:21 gearing. Im never planning a towering set of meets, but going to a 33 or slightly larger is always in the cards. But I've found a few better options that give the 3:73s but still no love in the Rubicon factory for unlimited's. Tomorrow after I get off its going to be a long long process.
Whats the general feeling of the anti slip rear system? I know its a wear item of sorts, but that's not a tremendous problem at all.

Welcome to the forum!
I've seen two options for carrying doors for a 2 DR. One was via tow attachment and the other was via expedition rack mounted on the top of the vehicle (a la Garvin or similar).
Good luck with your purchase and looking forward to pics of your new ride...and ultimately, pics of the solution to the original question...
