Something I have learned from owning my first Jeep and from all the folks on this board.

Owning a Jeep is more than just a mode of transportation, it is a lifestyle....

Maybe if you explain it too her she will be OK, no wife would or should ask her husband to change his lifestyle.

Update. The JK is for sale. I told her if I could get most of what I have in it back it's a goner. If not, it's a keeper. $25,000 if interested.

Now, you all had some good advise. Thanks for the videos CLACKEY(_!_). I can't get rid of the wife. She has been around for 22 years. Can you imagine what it would cost to get rid of her? It is cheaper to get rid of the JK.

Well let me go contact Oprah and Dr. Phil and see what they say.

i love it out here in the country, bottom line is you gotta do whatcha gotta do, if you sell your JK and go back to a TJ yeah it's still a jeep but it won't be the same. or risk it and keep the JK and build a house, it's up to you man country is beautiful. nice and quiet out here

Good luck with your decision.
Your wife is probably right. You can always purchase another Jeep when you're settled in. Hope you don’t take big hit with depreciation though.
Building a house is pretty stressful as well so take that into consideration. Maybe you can find one that’s already built.

And I moved from town to the mountains 4 years ago, best thing I ever did! but you will need a jeep to have fun in,, fishin and exploring etc.. keep her car in the garage,, remember,, birds out there in the country craping on the car..
I'm covered all the time in my company truck

Been there, Done that, Bought the TeeShirt.
Talk about stress, its bad enough having to sell the Jeep, but building a new house. Now thats stress alright.
I sold alot of stuff off to build a new house in the country. End result after 18 years I love it out here, however, financially not a good move.
Best advice is look for a nice place that is already built. There will be enough stress in the move alone and adapting to country life especially if the little lady has never lived in the country,
GOOD LUCK .. Remember compromise is a 2 way street.

Okay serious advice here from someone who just moved further out into the country. If I had to sell my jeep to make the move I would have done it in a heartbeat. That said the property and house would have to be perfect (or almost so). I have a stocked pond out back, can do what I want when I want, and it's usually so quiet here you can hear the neighbor's (across the road) goose snore. The disadvantages are the distance to anything and the price of gas. That said a jeep is not the best when it comes to mileage and a daily driver like mine however yours is not a DD but an extra vehicle for fun. This means just like a boat or other high ticket fun item it could be sold to have the extra funds to do something else you really want. As to replacing it with an older jeep that would be fine once you are fully settled in and all the unexpected expenses are over. The thing to remember in your case the jeep is a toy and not a necessity.

okay, so this will be the second vehicle you love that she's made you get rid of......i'd tell her to get a job (or a second job) if it means that much to her.....see how dead set she is on the idea of moving and building a house if she has to make the sacrifice so that it can happen.

just because you love her, doesn't mean you have to let her push you around.
