My wife got pulled over today......
She got pulled over by a State Cop today after work. She couldnt beleive he pulled her over, she was freaking out at first because she had no idea why . He walked over to her jeep all serious and started asking her about it. After the 3rd or 4th question she realized he pulled her over just to check out our jeep She said he checked out everything, he really liked the Sliders and exhaust. I guess he was talking to her for over ten minutes. He said he has a 2000 TJ and has been thinking about getting JK. So she gave him a card for our dealer and told him to check out the forum. I saw her about 10 minutes later and she was still all flustered from it Personally, I think its great and if I was with her, I would probably still be talking to the Statey

I think that's great.
I'm sure someone will post how that was a bad stop, and how the state police should not do that, however let's remember that those police guys are a cross section of the area that they serve, so they are just like you and I but trained better for what they are doing. I have no problem with a stop like that, and further more after the stop, they are the kind of friends I like to have.

My wife just told me, right when the cop pulled out and after she checked that her speed was ok, she started thinking " If he did something to my jeep to make it illegal, Im gonna kill him!!" I just laughed.. she still doesnt think this whole situation is funny...

I know you all agree this is a good pull-over story, and nothing bad came of it.
However, it shows the cop is prone to inappropriate behavior on the job. Especially the one where he told the driver to step out of the vehicle so he could sit in it. Yah, he asked, but who would say no. Not to mention the risk of being exposed to passing traffic.
How many of you would pull over if a stranger (civillian) waved you over just to look at and sit in your Jeep?
Totally inappropriate use of his authority. (And I don't say "totally" very often.)

i stopped a guy the first time i saw a 4 door wrangler just to check it out. it was a sunday afternoon, so i knew he wasn't going to be late for work, and when i walked up the first thing i said was that he was free to leave and had done nothing wrong, i just wanted to see his jeep. the whole thing went well, and i still see him every now and then when i'm in my rubi. he always waves.
more recently i stopped an older c3 corvette in a similar situation just to talk shop, and take a look.
you've got to realize that in a 12 hour shift of going from one messed up call to another dealing with people on what is usually one of the worst days they've ever had, sometimes it's nice to have an interaction with someone that won't end in taking someone to jail.
and as stated before, this kind of interaction with the public is good for PR...
