So for the first time ever, I drove into work today with the hardtop on, and the panels installed (yes I finally gave in to winter). Boy it gets toasty in there and I can actually hear the music coming from the tweeters.
Here is my experiences with MPG in various states of undress:
(6 speed, 3:21 rear, mixed roads - all readings from the JK computer so maybe not accurate, but certainly all relative).
- Soft top in Sunrider: 15.0 - 15.5 MPG
- Hardtop on without panels: 15.5 - 16.0 MPG
- No top: 16.5 - 17.0 MPG
- Soft top up: 17.0 - 17.5 MPG
- Hardtop on with panels in: 18.0 - 18.5 MPG

If I really baby it and alter my commute time to avoid as much traffic as possible, I have been able to avereage as high as 21.3 in my 2-door Sahara with hard top on. More typically I'm right at 19 average. But as soon as I feel like having fun, going topless, offroad or towing, down goes the mileage... and fast!

I drive two miles to work in the AM and two miles home in the afternoon. With some night time crusing at night I get crappy mielage around 13.5 to 14.
Over the weekend me and my better half took a road trip out to Cabelas in Hamburg PA about a 200 mile round trip got almost 19 mpg couldn't belive it.
I need to find a way to get better mileage around town.
