Modern turbo design (small turbo size, often bi-turbo) has really reduced noticeable turbo lag. One of the benefits of having a turbo is the available torque at low RPM-- think 1500-1800rpm...near-peak numbers, and then they hold it on a pretty flat curve for the rest of the power band.

The Ecoboost V6 in the Ford F-series is pretty popular..

I have heard that the new Wrangler will NOT get an aluminum body. But, that it will get a lot of aluminum parts like brackets, motor mounts, crossmembers, etc.

I heard the same thing from the guy who owns the company that makes all of the wrangler body panels. Sat next to him on a plane out of Tokyo.
