Smaller turbo motor? Wonder if the are talking 3 liter turbo diesel.
any thought on aluminum body rumor ? I know aluminum is expensive and understand harder to repair

Well I was trying to hold out for a 2016 in hopes the diesel was coming then. But according to this it'll come with the new design which makes sense.
So I'm heading to the dealer this week to get a 2015!

For what it's worth, a very optimistic person told me that they will put the 3.0 diesel in later in the year 2016s because they will be getting ready to put them in the new model 2017s. At this point, everything seems to be speculation.

I know a smaller Turbo engine would produce more hp and be more fuel efficient.....but am I the only one who wants a bigger motor for a wrangler?! I mean, I want a v6 or v8 in my jeep.
When I think of jeep, I think brutish, heavy, strong, tough.
I can see a Turbo in a Cherokee or new renegade, but not the wrangler, or grand Cherokee.

A big 8 cylinder would be sweet, especially now that diesel is like $1.00+ more per gallon than regular. I'm not sure why they haven't put a Hemi in it yet. It seems like they would sell like crazy.

It could be a diesel but I would make a bet on a smaller Pentastar. There is an article on Allpar that mentions the Pentastars (3.2 and 3.6) will receive direct injection and turbos I believe later this year for some models. The Fiat CEO mentioned a smaller turbo engine making its way to the Wranger and that the new Wranger will be smaller. I would think they might try and put in the 3.2 turbo Pentastar. Should reduce weight, take up less room and improve mileage. Whether that is good or bad only time will tell.
I would think if the Wrangler ever does see a diesel it would be the 2.8 that is used internationally now. It is already set to work and I remember reading something about getting it certified globally. That would be an inexpensive option for them.
Of course with every JK being sold that is made, not sure what incentive there is for them to produce a Wrangler in the US with more than 1 engine choice.

I had a car with a 2.3 liter 4 banger. Performed pretty well.. Solid horsepower.
My concerns would be with this in a jeep would be
1) turbo lag
2) power not coming on until higher rpm
3) big displacement usually usually equals big torque
