Mopar to offer Dana 60 for the JK
#22
That's all I've heard too and I have a friend who works at the dealer where I bought mine. He says the D60 will be offered through Mopar Performance, but not an option from the factory.

My bad! I miss-read the article! The D60 will be offered as an add-on for the existing JK's. So I guess I will change the direction of this thread... How many of you guys plan on purchasing a D60?

Well....you never know. You may well have found something none of the rest of us were aware of. ......and you STILL might. Keep lookin! LOL To answer your question, I don't plan on buying a dana 60. The 30 and 44 are plenty enough for what I'm gonna be doing.

They are just rebranded Dynatracs. Last I knew to get one directly from them was like $3,000, so once you get past the Mopar mark up it will probably be closer to $4,000 and you will only be able to run a 5x5.5 bolt pattern on the rear. I would save the money and go with Currie in the back and pocket the coupls thousand in savings, and then you can still run a 5x5 on the rear.

Well...depends on how well these D44s hold up. The shop who's building my rear custom bumper/tire carrier is also adding a truss system to my D44s front/rear. When I go to 37s I plan on 5:13 gears & Superior Cmoly inner/outters front and Sup-Cmoly's shafts for the rear. Better than OEM axle ujoints up front and we'll see how that goes. Just ordered the ORE C2 axle stiffners, so hopefully all that will make it pretty strong...we'll see

I'm calling BS on the original post, how many people on this forum have broken their D44 axle housing? Two? I dont think thats enough to claim that the 44's aren't strong. Are they as strong as they could be, probably not, but I am sure the majority of them will do fine throughout the course of their lives...
