Default Mopar to offer Dana 60 for the JK

Hmmm

http:// blogs.fourwheeler.com/6231741/whats-new/mopar-performance-jeep-wrangler-jk-dana-60/index.html

While on a foray to Burnsville Off Road in Burnsville, Minnesota, I tripped over Mopar Accessories soon-to-be-available Dana 60 for the Jeep Wrangler JK. Seriously, I literally tripped over it. It was this axle you see pictured, and it was moments away from being installed in a JK. I'm told it borrows axle componentry from Jeep's J8 export-only diesel JK lineup and includes larger Dodge truck brakes. Naturally it comes standard with JK bracketry and pinion flanges. The wheel bolt pattern is 5 on 5.5. I'm told that a larger front brake upgrade will also be available to complement the larger rear brakes. The front brake kit will include a new hub and bearing assembly in the 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern.

Burnsville Off Road (you know, the Hemi Conversion Kings, Viper Wrangler architect, Chrysler Design Excellence Award winner, and overall Jeep gurus) performed the setup for Mopar's All Access JK that will be in Moab at the Jeep display during the '08 Easter Jeep Safari. It goes without saying that we'll have much more information on this new Dana 60 in the June issue of Four Wheeler Magazine.

Yeah I just read a hint of this on another forum...it will be interesting to see how much they want for it. Of course you will likely still have to re-gear it and possibly add a locker....its nice to see Mopar at least trying to offer some factory upgrades to their customers.

That's cool. I wonder what the price will be and if it will come with the E-locker. I hope they put better brackets on them than the D30 & D44.

I doubt the D60 will have the same weak axle tubes as the D44. But... you never know.

I'm calling BS on the original post, how many people on this forum have broken their D44 axle housing? Two? I dont think thats enough to claim that the 44's aren't strong. Are they as strong as they could be, probably not, but I am sure the majority of them will do fine throughout the course of their lives...

Its been a known issue with Rubicon D44's in JK's and TJ's. I know they aren't the same axle but the thickness of the tubes isn't what it could be.
