Default mods and a story

i am hoping to install shrockworks side bars this week and will update my pics. i have ordered the new stubby bumper with the lights and hope jim send sit soon. (any one looking for a warn bumper and factory side rails???)

been pretty pleased with the hemi swap and can say i have no regrets. very fast and love the power offroading. i can not give specifics about gas consumption.

still at war with the dealorship over the ac as it it one of the last factory items. found the leak and it is from one of the ac lines on top.

glad that many more jk's on the road here in az but my peers seem to think i am wierd if i do the wave!

last part of my story....i work from home as a pc tech for a bank. i work a midnight shift so my work office is also the bedroom. usually i leave the window of the bedroom open for a lil breeze as with 5 pc's running it can get very warm. anyhoots i here some noise in the driveway and my cat who louges on the bed takes off. then i heard a big bang on the roof (my bedroom is on the 2nd floor). ok at this point i have a 357 in my hand and as i look at out the window and 4 feet away is a figure crouched and holding a knife. by the time i lift my 357, as he knows he is now the hunted he flys off the roof. one shot fired and i am out the door giving chase- barefoot, t-shirt and undies...he makes it over a fence and in seconds police are at the scene. guy did get away and got a scolding for weapon discharge. the 2 things this person wanted was 1) thought there might be a female or 2) my jeep is on the driveway and was hoping to steal it....really pisses me off was being told that once he left the roof and was off the property he was no longer a threat. WHAT!!! the cop that took the report came back in the morning and the reason was the jk...spent at least an hour and no he did not come with doughnuts- talking about the jk. yes he asked me to at least put in the garage and opened it to show him the trailer and my tj..ooops!

before: oh the mustang is the wife's and is a 2008 gt

after:

i have more pics on my pics on my space and feel free to make me a "friend"

Default cop said....

cop had a jeep..do not know which kind but i felt like a sales rep....i did start the engine for him and he loved the growl of the hemi. funny thing was he was hoping that his 1 million iraqi dinars would be 1 to 1 (currently i believe 1 million is worth 800 bucks)...i have 2 million! but that is something i will never see happen....oh yes he was under-inside and i joked that now that he touched everything he could not lift any prints.....the prowler used the rear part of my jeep and climbed on to the top rack. i had the jeep parked all the way on to the garage. becouse the rack is texture coated they were not able to lift prints.
what i need to get is ground sensors and or motion detectors- i know we say things like "i live in a good area"....the next night around the same time 1am i took my old english sheepdog to potty out front. i could here the dog from around the corner start to bark and then i see 2 figures coming up...i move into the shrubs and wait till i could see and noticed it was 2 young female teenagers. they were pretty scared when they saw dog in one hand and a gun in the other. told them what happen the night before and then they went into a panic- first off these were not the kind as you would expect roaming so late told them i would be out for another 10 minutes if they had any trouble....they ran and faster then fast......

you know you said to bad i missed.....i was lectured that even if i hit him and he was facing me with a knife i would have possibly been in the back of a police cruiser...bad thing is i off-road alot and have met a lot of "nuts" out there. years ago i took a week long journey and it never failed that some person would enter my distant camp. pretty much take my dog, a shotgun. ar-7, 357 and a palm size 22....call me paranoid but here in az i have seen campers and hikers attacked....i had trip flares and pop bombs and wish i never gave them to a friend.....

It is the Castle Doctrine that you're thinking about and the opposite is the Duty of Retreat. Here is a Wikipedia article that has more information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle_Doctrine. The Stand Your Ground laws are even more permissible http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stand-your-ground_law.

Well I don't know what the law reads in AZ, but just about everywhere else you can shoot if you feel your life or someone elses life is in danger. It has been proven that if a person with a knife is within 21 feet of you, he is a danger to you and you can shoot if he moves toward you. He can travel that 21 feet before you can run away. This is what we were taught in the police academy. I think the cop that talked to you was just trying NOT to tell you to shoot someone. ( He probably didn't want to have to do the paper work.lol) WE have had a couple of shootings here where the DA didn't press any charges. Yes you do end up in the back of a patrol car, but only until everything is straightened out. Then you get to go home and listen to all the gun haters bad mouth you for shooting some slug that needed shooting. This is all my own opinion and I'm not tell anyone to shoot anyone.(Got to cover my own tracks here) but it wouldn't bother me one bit to shoot some ass that is doing what that ass was doing. I'm glad that you and your family is safe and I'm glad that he ran and you didn't have to shoot him. Everyone that is a legal citizen should carry, then we'll see how many crimes are commited. lol

Glad you are OK!

This was just passed here in TX this year. Amazingly the politicians here actually do something that makes sense every now and then....

---------------

•Castle Doctrine/"Stand Your Ground" Legislation~SB 378 by Senator Jeff Wentworth (R-San Antonio)/Rep. Joe Driver (R-Garland)

This legislation puts the protection of the law where it belongs: with the law abiding, not the law breaking. If a criminal unlawfully enters or intrudes into your home, occupied vehicle, or place of business, you can presume that he is there to cause death or great bodily harm and you may use any manner of force, including deadly force, against him. The bill also explicitly states in law that you have no "duty to retreat" from a criminal attack if you are in any place you have a right to be and you are not engaged in unlawful activity. Last, the proposal would limit the ability of criminals and their families to sue victims for killing or injuring their attackers. This was signed into law by Governor Perry, the first bill signed into law this legislative session! It will go into effect on September 1, 2007.

---------------

Chasing them and shooting them when they are running away, especially if it was off your property, would probably put you in serious trouble though...be careful.

One of my friends shot an armed intruder at 4 AM in his own BEDROOM...in a very expensive neighborhood...with his .357 and one of my hand loads. When we were in college, he used to razz me about always keeping a loaded gun handy. I guess he got a bit more paranoid with a wife and kids to protect. Needless to say, he was glad he had that gun handy. The guy kicked down the door and he only had about 10 sec. to wake up, figure out what was happening and find his gun. He was still sitting in bed when he shot the scumbag.

Yeah, when I go camping.. I always take a shotgun and a handgun (40cal).. I don't worry too much about the 4 legged wild life as I do the 2 legged ones.. I guess I saw Deliverance to many times.. (Hey! Do you hear that banjo music? )

Glad the cop liked the Jeep though.. Just becareful in your neighborhood.. Even around where I live, there are very expensive, exclusive neighborhoods that have had break ins and such..

Ben
Hell expensive neighborhoods are not the only places they have been breaking in and stealing crap. There has been a recent rash of outside AC units getting stolen anywhere they thing they can get one. Recycle amounts have gotten so high they have been stealing anything that they can recycle.

Florida did not include the car part of the doctrine until last October.

Glad to hear you and your family are alright...you can never be too careful! Sorry to hear things like that happen!

BUT...you got to admit its pretty funny...think of it from his point of view...walking along...sees a bad ass lookin jeep and figures this guy makes money...lets screw him over...feeling like he is just a bad ass...and if any one gets in his way he is gonna cut em down...and then all the sudden Sgt comes bustin out the house and starts shootin at his ass. You know he was scared shitless and thinking to himself...out of all these damn houses I had to pick one where one of the raddest baddest mother fuckers lives...

he probably wont be bothering you again.

sick lookin jeep btw

I have a carry conceal in Texas. (Note, below is my interpretation of the law and should not be taken as advise or fact as I am not a laywer nor an expert in texas law) Of the three states I have lived and had a CHL, Texas has the best laws. Basically, if a person plans to rob, steal, rape, or kill you or someone else... you can use deadly force. You can even shoot him in the back if you feel that he is still a threat. In otherwords, if there is a possiblity that he is just regrouping or better positioning himself, you can use deadly force. If he has stolen an item, with a CHL, you can chace him down and use deadly force. Without a CHL, you can only chase him to the egde of your property. The CHLs in texas are governed by the same laws that the police are governed by.
