All great advice. I would definitely go for another manual trans. If I had an auto I would definitely trade. Hard decision to make but I need to look into the RIPP supercharger a little more.

Keep it and mid it. If your 3.8 is serving you well now then why trade it? My 08 has 42k miles and so far my 3.8 has been great! Considering a ripp supercharger in the future..

Ok, I just traded my 2010 Sport 2 door 6 speed for a 2012 Sport 2 door 6 speed for about $3k. There is no way you can supercharge your 2010 for that money.
The 2012 with the manual tranny are much more fun than the 2010, contrary to speculation, I have actually driven both. Go test drive one and decide.
Aboutn 2012 mods not being available yet, most of the stuff for older models already fits, and your 2010 is stock so I think you are not really too eager to go modding. The 2012 will be a better base vehicle for future mods.

I don't owe too much left on my '10, but I'm holding my breath for a diesel. We'll have a completely new wrangler in 3-4 years, and with the truck talk and europe emissions chatter, a diesel would make sense next cycle.....that said, I'm happy with what I got now, so a diesel or a completely redesigned model would probably be my reason for a trade.

If yours is almost paid for, you have a manual transmission, you are happy with the interior, and you keep your vehicles for a while, I say keep what you have and mod it. Another important thing to consider is whether or not you work on your own vehicle. Repairing virtually everything under the hood of the 3.8 is relatively simple, due to easy access (i.e. lots of empty space). This space also allows room for mods, like dual batteries, air compressor, etc. Open the hood on the 3.6, and you will quickly see that either repairing or adding mods under the hood will not be that simple. To be clear, I'm not saying that the 3.6 is bad, but these are things I look at when making a vehicle purchase.
As for buying another car to go back and forth to work, I say no here. With the money you will spend on getting the vehicle, insuring it, and then maintaining it, you will negate any real payback. If you are going to spend the money modding the Jeep, then you should simply drive it and get the maximum enjoyment you can from your hard earned cash. Just my 2 cents!
*Edit: In case you haven't seen it, this link will give you a new perspective. They are all solvable problems, but should be considered for your decision.

Well, my long term plan is definitely to make my Jeep my second vehicle whether its my current 2010 or a 2012. I drive 25000/year and dont want to put those miles on a heavily modded jeep. Thats what rice burners are for, right? This is the whole reason I havent modded my 2010 yet. The more I think about it, the more im leaning toward trading. I could have it paid off in a year.

Was trying to decide whether I wanted to trade mine or not. Drove 2012 big difference motor wise. Not really concerned about interior. Starting over on mods though, don't know.
