My Is Fine
My '08 JK manual transmission is fine, it's smooth all the way. One problem though, since I am so used to the 5spd manual from my previous TJ, I kept forgetting that there is 6th gear that I need to go into when I'm on a freeway....

I had problems with reverse and 6th... grind opps! But after a bit I got the hang of it. Compared to my YJ... its smoother. As with any manual, the higher up you sit, the longer your throw. Since, it is a direct linkage, not sure if you can take out any additional slack.
