Default Manual hubs

Can you convert the front end to manual hubs on a 2009 unlimited?

In stock form no. The unit bearing wont allow it. Spyntec makes a kit to shange it out for about $1500 (new spindle, bearings, etc), but it will also change your front wheel bolt pattern to 5x5.5.

Depends on how you look at it. It may be bad for your wallet, but i tend to think of it as proper planning. I had my lift, winch, and bumper sitting in the garage before I even took delivery of my JK.

Any suggestions on a lift? Thinking of the skyjacker 2.5" lift. Needs tow points in the front. Any recomendations on a front bumper?

Skyjacker is notorious on here for quality issues, although I know a bunch of people who run them on trucks and have never had problems. I went with Superlift, and I love it. If I had to do it over again, I would have considered Teraflex more heavily, their customer service rocks and they make great products.

Bumpers, you need to decide winch or no winch, stubby or full width, lights or no lights? lots of options out there...

Why would you want to go with manual locking hubs? Just curious as I really don't know the benefits. Also, I just added a Rubicon Express lift kit and love it.

Enabling the axles to be unlocked from the hubs allows for increased fuel mileage and also "lightens" the steering feel up somewhat. What we have stock spins the entire axle assembly, including the front drive shaft, ALL the time. Allowing all that weight to be disconnected poses a pretty big advantage.

Also lets you drive home when you break an axle. Reduces wear and tear on the diff.

I'm running the syntec hubs from solid axle. After 40,000 miles plus and on two different jeeps. I still love having them. Another great plus is you can adjust your front caster and not have to worry about driveline vibs.

Check out the link in my sig for pictures. Spyntec has it's own site at Spyntec.com
