I kind of know how you feel. I was dead set on getting a manual but I drive in the city every day, which can really wear on you. I will say though that I love driving the standard when I get out of the city. When I test drove the auto I didn't find myself enjoying it as much. I know if I were to switch to an auto I would be pining for manual again.

I would regret giving up my 6-speed. It's just nice to have so much control over the tranny and it's great being able to get the extra MPGs! Plus, I love having something to do while I drive.

I went to my first standard when I got my JK. I always thought that if you owned a jeep it should be standard.
I live right outside of Boston MA and have to drive in the city everyday. I love having control over the tran. and shifting. I can't believe that it took me this long to get a standard. So my opinion keep the standard.

Honestly...is it that much work? I don't even notice or think about it, it's very fluid and natural to me. Besides, what else are you doing or trying to do while driving that all that shifting is hindering?

I would say keep the manual. I used to own 2 Jeeps...a 95 Cherokee XJ, and my current 08 Rubicon. Both were manuals...love(d) them both.
I would say stay with the 6 speed. There's a certain fun that you cannot replace. Also, I think driving a manual makes one a better driver: more skilled and more alert. That's my 2 cents.
