Default A little advice...

Ok, here is my super NOOB question or questions....

I have the 2dr X and the list of future mods are starting to get bigger the more and more I do research. My plans for the JK is to have a sweet daily driver (when I'm not on the duc) and very capable trail rig. There are not a whole lot of places to go around here but being in the Navy, I never know where I am going to end up every couple of years.

So please critique, any help is appreciated.

The lift I like is the 5.5 RK Mid-Arm plus.
Wheels 18s on 37in tires.
Re-gear 5.13
Stubbys, fenders, all the other fun stuff.

First is 37s going to be to much with my axles? I have been reading that a re-gear and mild wheeling and they will be fine. What other issues am I going to come across. Am I going to big with the lift and tires on a 2dr and the smaller wheel base is going to be an issue?

Thanks for the help, flame on if you wish.

I think you would be happier with 35's if you are going to use it as a daily driver. In a 2dr with the short wheel base you should be able to go most anywhere.
37's start to make your rig more of a customized rock crawler IMHO.
Eitherway, those mods will make your jeep awesome!

If you have the Dana 30 in the front I would really be worried going with 37's, even on the street.

A buddy with a lifted TRD is saying the same thing. I would like to do it right the first time around but we all know how that goes.

So a 3.5 lift and 35s with a re-gear would be more logical?

Ok, well, I'm waitin' on an '09 4dr, but the plan is basically the same.

I'm looking at bumpers front/rear w/ tire carrier on rear, Warn PP, 35's, Clayton 3.5" lift, and maybe a re-gear. I've got the Rubi on order now so I might not do the regear right away. Have not decided yet.

If I do it right away, I'll have $8k+ in it in the first few months. We'll see.

Don't forget driveshafts if you go 37" on that 2dr. Not sure if they're required at 35", but I think they're highly recommended at that height.

A 3" lift with 35s will probably be plenty, and you might not have to regear.
