Don't even think twice get it. An extra wheel of traction for 300 bucks is a no brainer.

I personally love having the LSD. It helps a lot when driving in the snow when the roads go from no traction to bare pavement in areas that have been salted and plowed. If I had to rely on open diff 2WD or 4WD I would constantly be switching back and forth to have traction in low traction areas but to avoid binding up the drivetrain when I have to make a turn in a well plowed/salted area.

And oh yeah, when you turn the ESP off having both back wheels spinning it makes for killer doughnuts in the snow

Having the LSD will reduce the amount of braking needed to get the loaded tire to spin. If you're in a deep uphill, you'll need less RPMs to get the loaded wheel to spin and that's a very good thing.

Get the LSD. I recently helped a buddy rebuild his D30 front (open), and D35 rear (LSD). The LSD carrier is a much more involved rebuild and getting those clutch packs compressed enough to get the spider gears in was a lesson in patience.

thanks tpm 152, this is what I have been thinking, my 08 2dr does not have lsd and to be honest i really have had no issues, the traction control does a great job. pretty much now decided that if i go with the sport it will have lsd.

Absolutely, get the LSD, I have had it on several of my older Jeeps and it always did great.

Just to hop in, it seems like the operation may be a bit askew. The limited slip is not a full rear lock. If you load one wheel enough (off road) it will slip and either burn itself up if you get too crazy on it, or you'll have to try the obstacle again and see how it goes. Don't get me wrong, it's better than an open for sure. It will wear out since it has clutches and is not 100% power to the rear.

Just stating! Found that out with my Ranger when i added a rear lsd. Was awesome on the street, if i loaded it hard enough it would give me a one-wheel peel.

There was an article on here a couple of years ago praising the JK's LSD and saying while not as good as lockers it was pretty damn close in most cases, including rocks.

Most are when they are brand new.

As Goody mentions, it's better than an open diff, but it is essentially a clutch based limited slip which wears over time and while it may be better than open, it is definately not a locker

The Track Loc IS better than an open diff....but not by much.
