Default Letter from the dealer...

I received a letter from my dealership in the mail about a "buyback program". Apparently if I sell my Jeep back to my dealer they will give me the most money back from my Jeep (obviously, cause my JK's only a year old and value decreases over time! DUH!) and that I can get a newer model Jeep (Wrangler, Cherokee, etc) for a possibly cheaper monthly payment.

Now, I was just curious if any of you guys or gals have received anything similar in the mail from the dealership?

are you leasing?

I received a phone call, but I never talked to them about it.

I've received similar letters in the past. They claim they are in need of clean used cars, etc. etc.

They are just trying to make money reselling a used car and selling a new one.

Cheaper monthly payments will just mean extending the length of your loan to bring the monthly payment down. You could drop your loan to $100/month if you were willing to take the next 40 years paying off your new Jeep!

mines a little over a year old and I never got anything like that in the mail. Did you lease yours or not? Mines leased. This could be why.

oh, to clarify. I'm not leasing my Jeep. I just read the letter than started laughing to myself. Its more entertaining that they list specific dates to do the buyback. Like they wouldn't purchase my Jeep back after the dates listed on the letter.

Pretty standard stuff. I used to get them from Ford back when my (now my son's) F-150 was new.

FYI: Don't ever be concerned about vehicle payment or trade-in value before you've set the price on a new vehicle. Negotiate on total price alone. After that, see if it fits in what you budgeted to spend monthly (without letting the dealer know what your budgeted monthly payment is). It may be helpful to go to the dealer with knowledge of what you could afford at your local credit union (the best place to finance a vehicle). The alternative, which is what this flyer is all about, is to hook you on a lifetime of payments. It's nice to not have car payments (even if only for a year or two until you buy another new one).

No letter yet but after waiting 7 months for my Rubi, I'll be darned if I'm going to sell it and wait again for a new one. I'm perfectly happy with what I've got, thank you!

I have gotten 3 or 4 of them at least.

I'm not ready to part with my baby yet, I may trade her in for a better model at some point (like i did with the ex wife) but I'm not there yet, maybe in a few years when something with better makeup or sexier curves comes along.
