leather seats for 2009
Hey
Going into work Friday ; I work at Chrysler's Toronto NPD (National Parts Depot), I noticed two 2009 Unlimited Saharas with leather seats and chrome tips on the exhaust. They were parked in an area in which vehicles come new from the factory and are used by office staff for a short period of time and then sold. These vehicles are usually factory optioned and not custom accessorized in any way so I'm guessing leather seats are a 2009 option. Would this be correct??

I wouldn't bet on it. Just about every Jeep dealership I've been to has had at least one JK with leather interior. I am usually approached while staring at it and told it was added by a custom shop in the area.
Now I haven't seen many JKs with the vinyl interior so I am not sure if it looks like leather or what, but that could also be the case.

When I was waiting on the dealership to wash and clean mine, I was in the show room and they had a 4dr Sahara with leather seats in it. I asked the sails rep and he said it was an option that the dealer can add from the factory if you order one. Who knows.

Actually, I'm going to answer my own question. If you go to the Jeep website they have the 2009 stuff up and you can indeed get MOPAR leather and chrome group as options. Not sure what else the chrome group entails but that would explain the tips. The seats looked pretty good but the whole package together looked way too pretty for a Jeep!! Looks way too Hummereskish!!!

Leather in a soft top would be nuts... I just spent the last 2 hours ripping my carpet and driver's seat out to dry. Even with a hard top though it seems like leather doesn't belong in a real Jeep.

I seam to recall seeing the leather option as well in the sahara builds i believe. It would be a pretty option if you never took the hard top off and only cruised the malls. Other than that, i think it would get eaten up fast by the elements with the top off.
