Knocking Noise driving me crazy
I have a knocking noise it sounds like it is coming from the steering column. it happens when i go over small bumps and it is driving me NUTS. i checked everything up front. it sounds like it is behind the column or something. any one have this problem of have any ideas it's really driving me crazy.
thanx for any input.

I had a loose top shock mount one time that caused a clunk going over bumps. But I also got the steering clunk, didn't just clunk turning, did it over bumps too. Also you might wanna get a flash light and look up under your dash at the steering column and check those joints aswell, it's a PIA to get under there so have your flashlight where you can grab it.

this happens to me, i noticed it pretty much anytime the wheel moves or there is a bump..but ONLY when its in the 80's and 90's..as soon as it cools off there is no problems to speak of..something must shrink down when its hot out

Yeah, I went through the whole greasing the shaft thing, it worked for a little while, but the the grease just melted away. Replaced the intermediate shaft and all is well for now. I'll just order another one when it comes back.

hmm this is starting to make more sense. it could be the on the inside steering shaft on the inside of the cab i will have to try and wedge myself under there and check. i did get my hand up there the other day though and wiggle it around and it did not make any noise.
if that is the problem does anyone make an aftermarket shaft?
