Thanks for the back-up on this - some folks on another, similar thread are doubting the validity of this trick. Off-topic: I see in your sig line that you're planning to lift your Sahara and "go WIDE"... How wide is WIDE? 2" backspacing with wheel spacers to make it look like an open-wheel racer, or what?

MJS Jeep 888 - I plan on going with a 12" wheel with 35/15.50 tires.... I know A LOT of people do not like that look at all, but I do. The 2nd to the last Jeep I had I went with 33/13.50s on a 12" wheel and I thought it looked awesome so I figured I'd move on up this next go round.

This does work. I have to do this more and more often since the remote for my Escort Wagon (don't kick me off the forum, please) is dying.

One of my close friends has used the remote-through-the-cellphone trick when he locked his keys in his truck; his girlfriend had the other remote at work.

Just to clarify, so that this REAL, useful trick doesn't get lumped into the same category as the BS cell-phone trick...

Holding the remote up to your chin does actually cause an increased transmission, by creating somewhat of a scatter effect by using your throat and chest as a sort of antenna/reflector point (look for the link to that site I posted earlier, which explains it more scientifically than I'm able).

The "I locked my keys in the car and had my [girlfriend/wife/friend/roommate/parents] shoot the spare transmitter signal through the phone while I held my cell phone up to the lock" trick is total (and well-known) BS - this is just not how these things operate... About the closest to reality this can get is if you have On-Star or similar, and call their operator to transmit a satellite-based signal to your vehicle. But passing through cell phone frequencies just doesn't work, due to the nature of the signals, etc.

Just wanted to clarify that - the "hold it to your chin" trick WILL increase the effective range of your transmitter (and no, you don't have to open your mouth, deep throat it, stand on one leg, or any such inanity... it has to do more with the natural echo cavity of your body than hair or fillings, too).

On another note - I attempted the same approach that I referenced earlier in this thread, where I tried to unlock the JK prior to using the remote start. Well, it was humid and foggy this morning, and the chin trick failed me this morning. But under normal conditions, I'm a firm believer that this trick works (and actually has a scientific basis).

Also if you stick it up your B*tt, whenever you fart you can lock it and unlock it hands free.
Try it!

I'll let you be the pioneer to give that one a try... that's not my lifestyle choice.

Again, the chin trick works - I'm serious.
