Default Key can be removed when in Drive

Hi,

Forgive me as this may be a dumb question, but this is the first Jeep I have owned.

After I park the car, I can pull out the key when it is in Drive. Is this supposed to happen? I've never seen a car that can do this. Usually, it just prevents the key from being removed.

Thanks for your help and information!

Usually only happens with YJs and older TJs, I thought they fixed it years ago, guess not.

Wow, I thought that it must a feature. But then I thought, why would that be a feature?

Please report back when you have tested your vehicle.

It could be...if you hop out and the Jeep rolls away

Also curious if this is a common problem or just a fluke?

Had to go outside and try it. I couldn't get my key to come out in drive. It must be a fluke.

I've got an 11.

Huh, okay. I have a 2012 JKU.

I'll call the dealership and ask about it.

Anyone with a 2012 give this a shot?
