Theres still one thing missing in this thread..... Pics of your pride and joy. It may be stock but we still want to see it, so get some posted up for us. And welcome to the Jeep life. I had my first Jeep for 5 years and it took me all 5 to get it modded, and it stayed stock for the first 2 I bet. Start with some of the small cheap mods you want and work up, and bargain shop your ass off

I'm waiting for my JK decals to come in so I can take some pics to post up. I am hoping they will show up soon. I have to read up on posting pics, but I will get there! I think I put a pic of my JK (my pride and joy) in my profile (or maybe not?), but it was from awhile ago. I'll get some I promise!

Tell him to pm me. I used to be into autocross and drag racing. I had a 240sx that ran 14.2 in the corner and pulled 1.02 g's on the skid pad and I still miss it. I got into Jeepin' because I have kids and a wife and racing isn't something they can do with me. Just got my '08 Unlimited X and took the whole family. Wife doesn't enjoy, but went 2x. She is done, wont go again. But try it. You would be surprised what it will do stock.

You will mod eventually, as he is probably doing to his car. Make it a way to enjoy both worlds with each other. If he is dragging you to the track, tell him you are dragging him into the woods.

Keep my 2c.

Dump the boyfriend and take a brother or cousin. Any man that doesn't think a woman driving a Jeep is hot needs his head examined. You have plenty of fellow forum members in your neck of the woods that would be perfect gentlemen and introduce you to the joy of Jeeping without behaving like the pigs we are.

the way I see it, life's too short to be with someone who won't respect the things you're interested in either by trying it with you or feeling happy for you if you decide to try it on your own. I've been in relationships like that and none of them worked. You respect his hobbies by going to car shows and to the races with him. Even if you didn't go, i'd bet you'd be happy for him if he went without you simply because he's enjoying himself. My wife at least tries to come along with me when I take part in the things I like. I'm into offroading, motorcycles, custom audio setups and just about anything else that makes things faster, louder and bigger. She's thus far gotten her motorcycle license, bought her own bike and she's on her 3rd Jeep(2 unlimited's and a patriot). She loves all of it! every birthday and Christmas, i my gifts are always related to the things I enjoy as my gifts to her are for her hobbies. funny, when I met her she was a very girly, princess type girl. Now she likes going faster and gettiing her Jeep dirtier than I do!!
so, in short, your boyfriend needs to get over himself and you need to get out there and do what makes you happy.....gettin you and your Jeep dirty!!! The mods will come in time....

I'm not one to give dating advice... but would say that if you're looking to mod your jeep but keep it good as a daily driver... you could add a cold air intake and swap out the exhaust for a cat back system. You'll still ride well on the road and increase your fuel economy (if you can keep your foot off the pedal).

Just a thought. That's how I got started...

I totally understand where you are coming from...

I myself love how cool the Warn winch looks on the front of the JK... I totally want one... but in the back of my mind I keep asking myself... will I ever really use it? And most cost $800-1500 bucks... that's a lot of $$$.

I want to go off road more... but the wife just doesn't like that stuff.

Yeah, spending life with someone that doesn't enjoy the things you do or doesn't want you to enjoy on your own is NOT the key to a happy life. Love is putting the needs of the other person first and it HAS to be a two-way street. Sounds like he has control and/or insecurity issues. No woman should have to put up with a man with control and/or insecurity issues. That's a recipe for misery.
My wife doesn't necesarily enjoy the all same things as me, but she wants me to be happy, so she lets me have my activities and I do the same for her. (going dancing, girl movies...BLECH!)
