Jku camper question?

Jku camper question?
Does anybody on here pull a camper with their jeep? And if so can you tell me what size and how it does with one? I need to get one for work but don't want to sell my jeep to buy something that pulls better

It really depends on your Jeep, like what type you have. A 4 door can tow a little bit more than a 2 door. A Rubicon has better gearing. Some Jeeps were sold with a tow package that included an aux tranny cooler.
I can tow up to 3500 lbs with 350 lbs max tongue weight. I tow an Army trailer with my 4 door, but it's not a camper. The trailer weighs about 800 lbs. My gear might add up to a couple more hundred lbs. I've added an aux tranny cooler. The Jeep tows nicely. When the wind blows though, it kinda sucks. I average about 10 miles a gallon while towing with all my gear.
You just need to find a camper that is less than 3500 lbs and less than 350 tongue weight. (If you have the properly equipped 4 door Jeep.)
I was looking at these A-frame popups...

I use to tow my rockwood 1980 series pop up. I have a 2 door so 2,000 pounds was max. All you things considered I did fine. There was a rare occasion when the crap roads here would bonce it around and push my jeep around a little. Just watch the weight and yiu will be fine. As stated above, be sure if you have an auto get a trans cooler. They became standard in 2012 so you may not need one.

We have a 2013 2 door and pull a camper with no problems. It is a Vymeron made by Microlite. They have a web page and are on Facebook. It is one of the best investments we made. I searched a long time because I wanted to find a camper I could pull with the Jeep. They are all aluminum so they are light in weight. I would recommend that whatever camper you buy install electric brakes. It does make a difference in stopping and if you need them only once for a quick stop you will be glad you have them.

I have a 08 JK Unlimited 4-door. Mine came with the rear end for better mileage and towing. I was towing a 2003 Fleetwood Niagara Elite pop-up (2800 lbs dry). Electric trailer brakes and sway control, were all that I needed. I towed it up and over Tioga Pass ~9800 ft. And Sonora Pass, from the East Bay (Stockton, CA). I made that trip to Bridgeport, CA and Bishop, CA, several times. A trans cooler and patience were necessary. I'm looking to change to a hard-size vintage camper, in the 2500 lbs dry weight.

07-11 didn't come with one. You only need it if you have an auto trans. I learned that hard way that I needed one. I almost cooked my trans. I would buy one before you start towing.

You have a few options. I bought an oem kit to keep it factory. There is also an aftermarket kit that one of the vendors on here has and its pretty nice. The other option is to piece one together. I'm on the mobie version now so I can't post the link but I can later. There is a couple of threads on here with all the info you need.
