Default JK vs. YJ

I oredred 2007 JK from US and I'm still having my old YJ
the new should be shipped coz we are not gatting Rubicon over here (Dubai)

old

as i'm a jeep guy this will be the 6th jeep..just want to share with u strong point and the weekness of both JK and YJ comparing both, keeping in mind that the modification done are:

YJ

Wrangler 1992, 5 speed manual, 4" lift, Rancho 9000, 31x10.50R15LT Mickey Thompson tires, , Warm f&R bumpers, K&N filter, Nology Hot wires with Spark Plug, larger throttle body, Borla Exhaust, ARB Diff Locks (F/R), 4.88 R&P setup, H. duty drive shaft, heavy duty rear axle Dana 44, ARB onboard air compressor, sport steering, 2 fuel cans,

JK:

Stock 2007 Rubicon

so what I will loose or gain replacing YJ by new JK

shall I keep YJ for fun or the Rubicon will do all what I expect to do?

The main reson that let me think to go for JK is that I could drive in on or offroad easly on the other hand the YJ is no more street legal due to it's modification, so i have to tow it by cherokee XJ
more over I like the JK 2 doors look and it's new hardtop, I'm not sure about the 3.8l V6 performance want to hear from u what do u think Is it a good idea to go from YJ to JK and why do u believe it a good or bad idea

I had really bad luck with my YJ, it was a lemon right off the lot, but I've had CJ's and Tj's. I love the way the JK drives on the street. It is like driving a car compared to the older wranglers and CJ's. Because of getting injuried 5 days after getting my JK, I haven't had it off road, but those that I have talk to say it is the best Jeep (meaning Flat fender, CJ, or wrangler) ever made and is hard to beat right off the lot. I really don't think you would be unhappy at all with it's performance. With the Rubicon model you have it all. As far as the v6 it has plenty of power with the manual 6 spd. and 4.10 gearing. It's not a hot rod, but it's faster then the in line 6 that was in my CJ7 and YJ (TJ had I 4 and my CJ5 had a V8) My opinion is that you will be happy with the JK.

I agree. The TJ is more refined than the YJ, and the JK's road manners put the TJ (and therefore the YJ) to shame... and while your modified YJ can probably do just about anything you ask it to offroad, your JK Rubicon will be able to do almost as much WITHOUT mods. You're going to love your Rubicon, and when you put on a small lift and some bigger tires, you'll be able to do MORE than your YJ can do already. Enjoy!

Hi Sportman,

Well i have owned a YJ,XJ,TJ and now the new JK and i can tell you that you will love the new JK the min you jump in and fire it up.

I also live in Dubai and was going to order the Rubicon addition but since i will be modifiying it to my personal needs i went for the Sahara 2 DR.

Later on down the line it will be a mean JK So if your planing to change a lot of things then just get the Sport or Sahara edition.

I can't wait for the supercharger that will be available soon as that will be in my JK without a doubt.

I have been in love with Jeeps since i was a kid, and even converted a lot of my buddies to Jeeps.

As for power in the dunes over here which what i think your asking , its way much better then the TJ i previously had, you wont be disapointed. DOnt forget once the engine has broken in and after a few runs on the trails you will see what the 3.8 V6 can really do

Dont get me wrong i love the TJ,YJ but we now have a JK in tha Jeep family which means more Jeep lol

Hope to see you out on the dunes some day

I had a 95 Sahara with the 4.0L H/O Automatic. I still think this was the fastest Jeep I've owned, I wish I had that drive train in my Unlimited Sahara, but aside from that I would take the JK hands down. I loved all my Jeeps, they all had there "things I liked better" about them, but the JK is my favorite.

The main reson why I go for Rubicon that I'm not planning to modify it as I did with YJ and I can say I love modify jeeps but as u all said Rubicon can do all what my YJ do with out modifation...so what do u think shall I sale the YJ and it's trailer and wait with piecefull mind to drive new Rubicon...I guess yes though I will be missing it 's Borla sound it's leaf suspession it's softtop I hope the Rubicon will be my next sand done toy as YJ did..

I have both a JK and a YJ. Infact, my YJ has the same paint job (excellent color). I have a 3 inch lift and a 1 inch body lift on the YJ. Performance wise, the JK out performs the YJ which I contribute to the ESP system. However, there are arguments between the benefits between leaf springs vs Coil which I won't touch here, but I can tell you that I absolutely love my JK and have no reqrets.

The JK Sahara has the same options as the rubicorn except for the sway bar disconects and front dana 44

The sahara has a rear dana 44 and front dana 30 gear ratio is also 4.10 so thats the reason i didnt get the rubi as i will be changing the front and rear to dana 60 later on oh yeah and lockers. but we dont need lockers for the sand dunes only if you will hitting the rocks
