Default JK vs Patriot

This is my second JKU, and I bought my second Jeep Patriot in 2009.

So, since december 2007 I drive a JKU and a Patriot.

I never had mechanical problems with my 2 Patriot. NEVER! Only the oil change.

And with my 2 JKU's, there is always something wrong: electrical issues, CPU, oil leak, tramsmission, etc.

Just my opinion and my personnal experience, but the Jeep Patriot is made of better parts than the JKU

The Jeep Patriot isn't even a true jeep. It is a CAR. It is built on the Dodge Caliber chassis. You are comparing apples to oranges.

+1 And the patriot has got to be one of the ugliest cars ever made. Especially by jeep

I'm not talking about off-road. Of course the JK is much more capable. I'm talking about quality of the parts. Therefore, I compare orange with orange.

My 2008 Patriot was very reliable! But one issue I had was a leaky factory sunroof. It caused a moldy smell after a while :-/ When I was active on the Patriot forums (yup they exist and a lot of guys off road their patriots, though not like Wranglers do) it seemed that the leaky roof was a common issue. Hopefully they fixed it with the latest refresh.

I don't think the Patriot is all that ugly. The compass on the other hand...

The only real complaint I had other than the sun roof leak was its lack of power, but then again I was getting like 29-32 mpg! YMMV.

Do you offroad your JKU?!?!?! If you do, you should expect some stuff to go wrong. You are subjecting the vehicle to harsh conditions. Everyone who uses their Jeep offroad should understand the maintenance and potential issues that come up with subjecting the vehicle to that abuse.

Does your patriot see anything more than a speed bump? Well no duh it's not going to have as many issues! I gaurantee you subject the Patriot to the same harsh conditions and the JKU will last ALOT longer.

I think you guys don't understand the OP. He's not talking about the shocks and ball joints getting dammaged in trail.

I agree with the OP
There are many JK's stock in my city, I know maybe 25 of them. And they are always in the dealer to fix mechanical parts. Nothing to do with offroad.
Beside the diesel engine, we have the same JK in France

The JK has a good engine, but many parts are crap
