JK unlimited towing ?

Hey, Yeah i know the Tundra does way better than a JK but i dont really drive it. I dont tow all that much at all. I would tow from here in Vegas to Phoenix at the furthest.
The JK would be lifted with 35'' tires.

With that 3500, should you also include the weight of the passengers, cargo, oversized tires, 200lb aftermarket bumpers etc...? So after all that extra weight, how much towing capability is there still left?

I tow about 3300# with my JK. The Jeep is basically stock, a Rubi 4DR auto. I've added a trans cooler and never had the "hot oil" warning.
The experience has been quite unsatisfying. Forget overdrive (manual says to turn it off anyway), forget passing, and forget double digit fuel economy. It is downright slow. The engine struggles mightily on any sort of hill and the trans shifts often. The engine revs are quite high, but I have had no issues after 24K miles.
Despite the engine's shortcomings, the chassis has been pretty stable. My boat trailer has brakes, which are properly adjusted and functioning, so I've never felt like the JK was being pushed. I've been towing for 22 years so I keep it slow into turns and ramps and have never felt in danger in those situations.
To keep within the factory specs I usually don't carry any other people or gear in the Jeep. Many people don't care about being over weight, but the way my luck goes I'll be involved in an accident and some young attorney will have everything put on a truck scale to make a name for themselves in some lawsuit.
If you were closer I'd hook up the boat and let you feel how it performs. If you go with 35's you will have to carefully consider your gears.
