Default jk trouble

jeep has been golden, up until last night...

had been riding around alittle and went to pick a buddy up, went to back out and the temp. gauge went nuts. was way past hot and i could hear everything boiling, so i shut it off right there in the road. waited a while with it, went back to normal temp and the battery light starts turning on. i have no idea why. everything has been working perfectly til now. i checked when it overheated, no leaks. all fluids are full, everything is fine. what could it be? im supposed to be taking my girlfriend home tonight for work tmrw. its a 3 hours drive from fripp island to augusta, and im not sure if the jeep is such a safe bet...can u guys think of what it might be? thanks for the help!

i checked for that as well, i was driving around at only about 20mph...so i never heard it, esp with the battery actin crazy all night. i think i might have a loose connection, but i cant find it. after i waited and the temp went down, i did hear the fan

What speeds were you going when it overheated? Inspect the hoses for kinks and the radiator for any damage? Do you hear the fan kicking in when you idle?

Try getting on the highway if you can. At highway speeds the fan isn't really a factor. If there aren't any problems with the temp on the highway your issue might be the electrical connection with the fan. Might want to have someone follow you if your electrical system is at all at fault.

I have an 07 as well and just had to replace my battery. Almost have 50k miles on it though so I'm sure that had something to do with it. Do you have an autozone or something comparable nearby? Take it to them and they will test your battery and charing system for free. When my battery started to go I had a couple of hard starts and mysteriously my radio clock was resetting....

that may be the problem, could that be the problem with the cooling system as well?

Well our jeeps have one electric fan. If you go out to your driveway, start the car and run the airconditioning the fan should kick in almost immediately (should run to cool the condensor). If it doesn't turn on then check the wiring to the fan.
