JK Sales Look Pretty Good...
I see on the AP the following:
GM, Ford, Toyota, Honda Sales Drop...April was such a lousy auto sales month that every major manufacturer but Chrysler reported a decrease from the same month last year. Even Toyota.
General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co., Honda Motor Co. and Nissan Motor Corp. all showed declines as automakers released their monthly U.S. sales numbers on Tuesday, but the drop for Toyota Motor Corp. countered a nearly two-year trend of rising sales, sometimes in double digits.
...DaimlerChrysler's overall sales increased to 213,999 from 211,365 a year ago, due to an increase at its Chrysler Group. Chrysler sales rose by 1.6 percent to 193,104 last month from 190,095 last year. Mercedes sales slipped 1.8 percent, from 21,270 to 20,895.
Chrysler said it had a strong retail month, with the Jeep brand up 29 percent due largely to sales of the four-door Wrangler and Compass models...
I wonder if Dr. Z still wants to sell off Jeep?

Surprising that Compass is doing good. I see a lot of Compass these days around here in Seattle and it seems pretty popular. I thought anyone who wants "that" kind of cars would buy Subaru Forester or Outback... I was wrong.
Probably, Patriot would do well too. I already saw a couple of them. "Looks" like Cherokee... not a bad looking. Much better than 08 Liberty or Commander.

This is the breakdown off the DC site
Looks like the JK is a winner for DC. Lets hope they keep it that way with good after sale support. Here's the site: http://www.daimlerchrysler.com/dccom...0-0-0-0-0.html
Compass sales YTD are 15,077. Wrangler sales (YTD) are 42,367. Good news for after market manufacturers. Maybe economy of scale will bring the price down on all those add-ons I want.
Auburn Hills, Mich., May 01, 2007 - Chrysler Group reported sales for April 2007 of 193,104 units; up 2 percent compared to April 2006 with 190,095. All sales figures are reported unadjusted.
"Chrysler Group increased sales in April based on a solid retail performance - despite two less selling days than in the previous year and a challenging market environment," said Steven Landry, Executive Vice President - NAFTA Sales, Global Marketing, Service and Parts. "Driven by the continuously strong Jeep Wrangler and the new Jeep Patriot, sales for the Jeep brand were up significantly by 29 percent."
Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited posted sales of 10,776 units, up 75 percent compared to April 2006 with 6,154 units. The Jeep Patriot continued to gain momentum and finished April with sales of 2,904 units, up 38 percent from March 2007. The vehicle is one of Chrysler Group's recently introduced fuel-efficient offerings that achieve 30 miles per gallon or better in highway driving.

But maybe I'm grumpy because I just got off the phone with DC and I'm still in BG status.

I see JK driving... at least few a day (X or Sahara). The most common JK (the ones I see the most) is Sahara Unlimited. Other than mine, I've never seen Rubi though (2-door or Unlimited).
