I sold my Land Rover Defender 90 to buy my JK Rubicon.
In stock form, my new Rubicon is the superior off road machine due to the lockers and lower gear ratios.
The Defender was built to a heavy duty military standard that I wish Jeeps matched, but it does not come stock with the same goodies that make the Rubicon a bit more capable.
I was going to spend the same amount of money to have my Defender completely rebuilt on a new chassis,k but decided to go with the Rubicon. However, in my old age, the comforts of the Jeep and the extra 2 doors to allow me to bring all three of my Saint Bernards along with me tipped the scales toward the Rubicon.

Rubicon is the most capable of all off road vehicles in stock form.
Followed closely by the X and the Sahara.
No wannabes among any Wranglers.
It can't be done by some car/ SUV crossover.
Nothing stronger or better than body on frame construction for this type of service.
