Approaching 4000 miles on my 4 door 6spd, and averaging about 18. Thats with alot of WINDY highway miles.

Anyone else have to downshift to 5th or even 4th to maintain speed on uphill grades or headwinds? We're not talking huge hills here either.

I just drove my 2-door auto rubicon from Colorado to Alabama. Most of the trip was high-speed (75-80) and I averaged 21. The higher elevation in the rockies definitely helps. Down here at sea level I'm loving the power, but mileage slipped down to about 19.5 down here. Back home running back and forth to work (24 miles one-way) I'm getting 19.

I'm using the readout. I'm too absent minded to track the miles.

I think you will find that the computer may be lieing to you. I have followed several MPG threads and I think most of the folks getting more that 17-18 average are reporting what the computer says, when they do the manual calculations it is 1 1/2 -2 MPG less than they thought. The folks that have put larger tires on can't use the computer readings at all without a reflash and then DC is limited to what tire sizes they can flash for. Manual calculations are always better. It is a rolling box, so it's not going to get great mileage. Now that I know what to expect , I just put gas in and Goooooooooooooo.

averaging 17 around town here. 20 to 21 on the highway. Highway speeds are about 65-70.

My JK is a stock X. Hardtop. 6spd with 4:10 gears and the stock baby 225 tires. I actually expect my mileage on the highway to go up a bit when I upgrade to some 32"s. Since the bigger tires will bring the RPMs down and I drive kinda slow anyway.

Those are manual calculations by the way.

The dash MPG appears to be off by 2 mpg.

I drive 95% highway - 55 - 80 mph (some days the foot gets heavy)

Consistant 19 -20mpg if I stay away from the cheap gas. Got 20.9 last week after getting 19.4 the prior week with cheap gas.
