It's not bad........give it some good thought and make one that looks less like an after thought. My 2cents.

i was even thinking of putting some sort of door on so i can keep the water out if i ever had to go in a really deep lake sort of puddle. but im not into the whole water thing i will go through large puddles and stuff but im not into the whole wading through water thing.

[QUOTE=Offroadme;654900]I am thinking of doing this hood snorkel on my jeep what does everyone think. ?? QUOTE]

I've been giving this some thought as well. I saw several cowl vents that are similar to this at my local West Marine store, and found this on-line source with a few more options...

Have you seen what this set-up looks like under the hood? I've been searching all over but can't find an under-hood shot that shows what's going on under that snorkel. If it's just a covered opening in the hood, but not tied directly to the intake, I figured it would still make it easier to pull in outside air, and act as a vent to get rid of some heat under low rpm/speed operation.

Just an update im going to try and get it mounted after work today and then i will take it off and paint it. i made it so it bolts on. this way if i don't like it i can just do some body work and cover up the holes. and before i cut the air vent out of the hood im going to leave it on there maybe for a day or 2 just to make sure i like it. but it came out pretty bad ass looking i will post up some pics later. im also planning on putting a rubber grommet around the base of the snorkel to keep it a little more water resistant.

ill post some pics after i come in from the garage tonight.

surely tho unless its facing forward this is pretty much useless as the air wont be taken in at any great rate, or is my thinking off logic??

Forget about water crossings for a minute and let's talk in daily, practical terms....

What prevents a heavy rain from filling your air intake with water? Is there a drain I don't know about at the bottom of the intake? (I don't have a JK at this point, but am very knowledgable with Jeeps/trucks/cars on and off road).

I would think this one though a little more thoroughly before drilling holes!

I love the idea but would like a smoother scoop. But it would be a great way to get air down into the intake.
