Default JK Fuel Economy

Hate to be that guy, but I'm gonna be that guy. I searched for "fuel economy" and didn't see a thread on this. I have a lifted JK running 315/70/R17s, upgraded to 4:10s. Is this normal?

This seems to be pretty consistent and measures within 1/10 MPG in either direction when calculated manually. I mean, are they REALLY this fuel efficient, or do I have a freak on my hands?

Yeah, the definite caveat is staying off the highway. But my TJ got 16-17, no matter where I drove it. Plowing I got 14. Never did better than 19, but that tank was an aberration. If I take this thing on the highway, it's typically because I'm running late, which means fuel economy is not on my mind. The result is typically about 16 MPG (at 75-85 MPH). But at 22MPG, it's more fuel efficient than my wife's sedan. With those tires, those gears, and that lift, that is surprising. I still wish it was a Hemi.

did you correct the speedometer with a programer when you did tires and gears?

I've gotten around 22 only a few times in my 2012 jku manual trans with 3.73 rear and stock tire size. In my case, that was 100% highway. I'm getting close to my 90,000 mile MPG update. Here's what the 80,000 mile chart looks like:

Indeed. Or rather, the garage that did the work did. I've also verified that against a police radar (connections). That's why I'm so bloody astounded.

22mpg?? Jealous. If I so much as look at my jeep it drinks a gallon of gas!

Kinda dig the throw back eagle on the hood btw.

Thanks. Precisely what drew me to it. Even though I'm loving the mileage, I would *so* trade it for a Hemi. I went from 14MPG in my Titan (11 when I plowed) to this, so it's pretty amazing.

Use a GPS app to track your speed, you can not get 22 mpg with a 34" tire. You can BARELY squeeze that out of a stock JK and only under the right driving conditions. Set the cruise at 60, open the GPS application and see what your really at. Adjust until they match perfectly. I'm not in any way calling you a lier because I am sure that you believe to know what you think you know. But if you honestly get 22 mpg with 315's then you are in a class all by yourself.... or a class of other folks who did not correctly get the speedometer/odometer calibrated.

I get around 13 on the interstate at 65 mpg and around 15.5 around town, in both instances I drive soft and smooth to maximize fuel economy.
