Hey Guys
I have owned one of the new Pajero 3.2L diesels for the last 4 years it consistently got 8-10L per 100KM and it was a powerplant. Now the 4 Door Wrangler is out I have just bought a Diesel one and from the few test drives and these forums the fuel consumption appears to be around the same.
I would not go back to owning a petrol. The current diesels are powerful and economical and the way of the future. They drive like a petrol and pull like a demon and are just great in the bush in our fav gear... low range.

Too bad they dont have the Rubicon in a Diesel yet otherwise I would have one of those.

I used to be all about diesel, then I owned one for about 15 months. All I can say is I am glad to back in gasser land. Especially now that the fuel here constantly varies between .20-.40 per gallon more than regular gas.

Diesels have their place, and if they make them with superior fuel mileage (like the VW Jetta getting 50 mpg) they make sense. If it was offered here in a 4 dorr Rubicon that could push the price of a Wrangler to the 40K range...

In the Jeep magazine a few months ago there was a blurb about the new 3.0CRD in the JGC. They mentioned that since it was turbocharged that it kept its power better than the regular aspirated gas engines.

Since I live in Colorado, I thought that was really interesting. I sent an email to Chrysler thru their website asking what the hp and torque ratings were for the 4.7, 5.7hemi, and 3.0CRD at 6000 and 12000 feet. They replied that they didn't have the info, so I asked for whatever high altitude info they had. They replied that they didn't have any?

I asked if they didn't have any, how could they make the more power claim in the write-up. Nothing back after that.

My avatar is from the Weston Pass at 11,900 feet, so this is not an academic question.

Apparently you have never driven a turbo diesel. If you have ever heard the term "turbo lag" turbo diesels are the definition of lag. The other thing about a diesel is that the top end is horrible. You can have them reprogrammed to unleash gobs of power however, the reast of the drive train will let loose on you...

I already have a Cummins in my Dodge. It weighs over 1000 lbs, and would snap the JK drivetrain like a toothpick.

Do they sell the diesel version in Canada?
I would really considering driving up to pick up a diesel rubi barring any border laws.

Nope, no diesels here..

Ours are exactley the same except they come with daytime running lights and of course block heaters as standard equipment. Some options are jumbled around as well... like Sahara's come with the freedom top standard.
