I still have the stock battery, when it goes bad I will most likely get a Duralast Gold from Autozone, I have never had problems with these battries.

But if you are going to winch a lot then I am not sure what the best is. I only believe that Optima is over rated in other words you dont get the bang for the buck

I replaced mine with a Optima Blue top from Costco for 150 bucks. My stock battery was getting a build up of gunk on top and I just dont trust stock batteries for winching.

I pulled the battery out of mine when it was new and replaced with a yellow top. I put the JK battery in my TJ and it lasted all of 1-1/2 years. It's a pos battery.

You should clean that up (as Redneck described), then when you change engine oil spray a quick burst of WD-40 on each battery terminal. That should keep them from corroding like that again.

I would not have guessed that you lived such a sheltered life, Redneck. BTW: It's "Tango Uniform" in the military. And "Sierra Hotel" is . . . well, I hope you can figure that one out.

You mean use coke? I would think baking soda and water would be better.

Thanks for all the advice.

There were a couple times last week when she didn't sound like she wanted to turnover, so I went ahead and ordered a new Diehard Platinum from Sears that I will pick up when I get back to Tampa.

I can't afford to not have my Jeep start so the piece of mind is worth it.

Plus I am half way to my dual battery setup to support my future (someday) winch.

When the wifes went, I got one from Costco, very inexpensive for what you get.

That is great! I am glad they replaced it for you.

I wish mine was still under warranty. I am about 6k past my 36k warranty.
