Back to the commute question- I run my 08 unlimited with 3.73's 120 miles round trip on our commute, I average 17.8 to 21 mpg, depending on speed. I run about 75 mph both ways, so the lower figure is more realistic on the interstate. I put 22,000 miles on it in 10 months- no issues. I do alternate it with my 06 Impala which gets 24.5 -31.0 mpg.

While I use my Rubi as a daily driver, I caution most who consider the purchase. Us Jeep Freaks are more willing to put up with the "cons" to be able to have the fun in our Jeeps.

Since you already have one, I would consider luxury for the second vehicle.

She may be happier with a used LR3 for the same price. Luxury, V8, capable and the best third row out there. (I'm 6'2" & 265 lbs. Third row is awesome!)

For the price of a new LR3 She could buy the new rubi and a used C class Mercedes for nice weather.. Oh,, and LR3's do not like deep snow,, high center too easy,, I go around them here in the PA mountains,, The roads dont get plowed till the storms done,, and the yuppies come to ski and get stuck on the way..

you might want to consider a subaru Outback
all wheel drive, good mileage , nice ride , family friendly , good ground clearance.

Thanks to all those who replied. The dealer didn't come down enough in price to make the jump. So we are keeping the Honda for now. Yeah we looked at the LR3's but now my cup of tea. Now the SRT8 cherokee would make it on both of our lists. Just need to find a dealer to bargin. She did have a Grand Cherokee before and loved it but the tranny went out.

my wife drives a wrangler x as her dd. it's got a 2.5 lift, mt baja mtz's and a cherry bomb extreme muffler on it. it rumbles like a tank and can be heard 3 blocks away and she loves it!!

shit, she wants me to put a 6 inch lift with 37's on it!! gotta love her......

Yeah she was pushing for a lift and bigger tires. But she has never driven anything that rough for any length of time, so I was curious about long term.

IDK the dealer keeps calling me and lowering their price that they couldn't do when I was in the dealership. So far they have came down enought that if they did it while I was there originally I would have bought it. Now I want more. They hit $27,500 or about 10K off sticker, and a Mopar/RE 4.5" LA kit for $5K installed. BTW The kit retails for $5,500 and 10 hours to install.
