I hear that noise when it's really cold. There are some threads about this. It seems the starter stick on for a split second after the Jeep starts. I removed mine and lubed it as best I could. Seemed to help a little.

I had mine in -28F last year. What you discribe sounds familer. For a while none of the dials on the dash would turn, the tires were frozen and it bounced around like a wheel was going to fall off for a couple of kilometers. Hard top rattles a lot, as well. I moved away from Fraser Lake this fal and it doesn't get that cold in Prince Rupert... thankfully.

And yeah I get the cold weather chirp too.

Yes the JK will start in that kind of cold, but not well, nothing does.
as for the "feels like I'm pusing the front diff", me too, oil turns to mollasis, shocks ride like they're solid steel. Basically it's hard on all equiptment IMHO, don't expect it to preform like it normally would, and don't try to make it you'll end up breaking something!

Remember steel gets brittle like glass when it's really cold...
Yes......been in AK for almost 26 years now. So this ain't my first rodeo. I've actually seen -60 below. And yes, that's Fahrenheit.

Was surprised to see so many replies tonight as I just got home from work. Like always......for some reason the cold always gets people to gabbin'
BTW.....-40 below and clear, to 47 above and rain....all in just a few days. It never ceases to amaze me.........this crazy land of the midnight sun...!!!

You'd think that at -20 below it would just all feel cold. But, it was VERY interesting this time, when it finally "warmed" up to -20 from -30/40, it was amazing how much different it was. -20 almost felt....."tollerable", if I'm allowed to say that.

Oh...I forgot to do it this year, but if you ever get into that kind of cold, don't forget to do the "hot water trick". It's pretty cool when you can take a cup of hot water and throw it up in the outside air at -30 or colder, and it freezes into little balls before it hits the ground. It also makes a real cool squeeky kinda sound too. Try it...!!!
