The JK at -40 Below...!!!
#11
about the same here -26c this morning (-15F)
the JK starts first time without a glitch , the only thing is the manual transmission is very hard to shift for the 2 or 3 first km and the heater is way better than the older TJ or YJ
they forecast -30c to -35c this week (-22f to -31f)

Well there you go, news to me. Ya -40 sucks. I have done exercises in Wainwright were it was -47. We kept our Armoured vehicles running 24/7.
One year the troops went to Baker Lake. -72 with wind chill. The shitter was dug 9 feet down.

It is a balmy -4 here this morning. I was planning to drive the JK this morning, but my lovely wife had started the tahoe for me when she was making breakfast for the kids.
Choice between the warm and the cold was an easy one... The JK can stay in the garage today.
The biggest thing I notice in the really cold weather is the TPMS seems to go goofy for a few miles, and it is a little hard to shift. Glad the nuclear-reactor heater works as well as it does. I don't have a hard top, but never complain about the interior temperature!

You need to do the Mopar Heated seats addon https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-write-ups-39/mopar-heated-seat-install-39723/ .

we hit -38c at our cabin two nights ago, and -30c is fairly regular in Manitoba.
Yes the JK will start in that kind of cold, but not well, nothing does.
as for the "feels like I'm pusing the front diff", me too, oil turns to mollasis, shocks ride like they're solid steel. Basically it's hard on all equiptment IMHO, don't expect it to preform like it normally would, and don't try to make it you'll end up breaking something!
Remember steel gets brittle like glass when it's really cold...

15 F here this morning and my Jeep made a slight "chirp" type noise when I first started it, but ran fine and idled fine.
Not sure what that chirp sound may have been.. only happens when it's a little below freezing.
Anyone else ever hear it?
