Jeep Value's Up !!! What's Your's Worth ???

This is why I'm looking at a 2012 Rubi. My 08's good trade-in value is barely less than I paid. If I sold it PP I could make my money back plus a little. Who says a vehicle isn't an investment.

You can buy a loaded 2011 sahara right now for around 29-30 without haggling hard.
I doubt you can get someone to pay that for an 08. I wouldn't, but maybe based on all your other logic it makes sense to someone besides me.
That's why I bought an 11.

[QUOTE=emoody007;2424636 Why??? Simply stated the banks don't lend on new vehicles like they used to. When the new model is out a lot of people won't qualify for it and the dealerships like to have a nice selection of used vehicles for those who won't qualify, thus increasing the value of used vehicles. You would be suprised how someone who doesn't qualify for a $35k 2012 will qualify for a $31k 2011. lol....[/QUOTE]
This makes no sense to me. Credit is tighter but there is no shortage on lending right now for new cars. Interest rates are at 0% or 2.9. If someone wanted to buy a used jeep the bank won't lend as long and the interest rate is going to be higher.
I would not buy a used jeep right now because for the same amount of money and lower payment you could probably have a new one.

Most banks consider anything less than 7 years old a "new" vehicle. I bought a 2007 avalanche in 09 and got a pretty good interest rate. I bought my 2010 JKU sport with 65 miles on it on 1 Jan of this year (technically not new) and got a great interest rate. It really depends on the year, vehicle/model, miles and possible resale value etc....

Whatever makes you feel better is fine with me.

The number one thing that lenders are concerned about is getting there money back. Lower priced used vehicles with higher interest rates for less qualified buyers assures that if the customer defaults there is less deprectiation on a reposession and more money collected from a higher intereste rate. there is less of a money gap to say it simply. This increases the demand for used vehicles by dealers because they have tons of people who can't qualify for new. Thus increasing used car values.

I agree with the previous poster.
When we bought our 09, it ran, with down and out the door, was about 18 000.
Checking the KBB listing and it shows in good condition around 28 000.
In excellent is around 31 000
Mine is a Sahara Unlimited and I Just checked the KBB and to get a similar replacement 2011 would run 33K

I can't quite figure it out but, traded my white '08 JKU Rubi, 6 spd, soft top, Infinity, 50k miles = $25,600 into a Surf blue '10 Rubi leftover w/ 58 (yes 58) miles and freedom top, mygig, dealer ask $29,608. Net spread $6008 out the door. Someone is getting hurt, but I'm not sure who?
