Default Jeep safety recall ESP/BAS

I got a letter in the mail earlier this week safety recall notice from Jeep with directions to permanently shut off ESP/BAS for jeeps with lifts and larger tires. Did anyone else get this? It is very rare that i get an ESP/BAS light on my jeep even with a 2" lift and 33"s. I think i'm going to leave it on for the time being. Did anyone else get this letter?

Pretty much everyone got it. If yours isn't going off, don't worry about it. If you add a taller lift and have issues, then consider shutting it off.

I haven't received the letter either. I would love to shut it off. Would you mind posting the directions?

Hmm, got mine well over a year ago, probably closer to two. Lots of threads about it if you do a quick search. You may have to do the whole steering wheel dance several times to actually get it to work, though, it can be finicky.

What method does the stealership use to disable it?

yep and If I remember correctly the 07's need a update flash to actually be able to do it. My 08 was an early 08 build and even though the stealership's computer said everthing was updated-- a dutiful mechanic went through every sub-file and found 2 that wern't....updated them and the dog&pony steering wheel dance finally worked for me I aint missed it since... not once.

This thread makes me &%#ŁĄ&!!!

My story:
My esp/bas started freaking out within the first few months while stock early 08, dealer finds bad sensor.
I get 3" lift and 35's system goes out almost immediately, stealership says "lift caused it" and won't do anything "under warranty" for me. I go to a different dealer who does look at it under a warranty and still can't get it fixed. Btw, the dealer refused to turn it off due to "liability". Also, btw, when the abs/esp is wacked out you also loose cruise control, the only way to keep cruise is to shut off ESP while it is functioning properly. Next came me deciding to spend $$ on new AEV lift thinking (erroneously) that my old lift caused all my problems. NOW FOR THE KICKER - even with new lift it still keeps freaking out so I go back to original stealership and they now find that my wiring is bad and repair it for a $650 charge since it is "no longer under warranty". Sure I argued that this has been an ongoing issue since new and this should remain covered under warranty to no success. The stealership continued their ignorant rant about how lifted jeeps void warranty, even though the final issue turned out to be a faulty wiring &$*%#. that repair was done over 1 1/2 years ago and I have never had a problem since with my abs/esp. I HATE STEALERSHIPS IN MY AREA!
