What ^^^ that guy said.

You must own the Jeep free and clear to have a check cut to you. Best bet is to go talk to acouple shops and tell them what you are thinking of doing. Also bring a list of the parts you want and prices. Some will be willing to work with you and some wont. Stay away from body shop chains, they will never do it. Locally owned places are your best bet.

Wife is ok, just alittle sore. She's going to go to urgent care today to get checked out, don't want any surprises. I'll post some pics after I get off work. Thanks again everyone for your help. This forum rocks. Lots of good info.

I am so sorry! I hope everything is okay and fixed quickly (wife and Jeep - in that order ;-) )

I told my insurance company point blank I would like to upgrade and they cut me a check. It was simple.

Make sure they check everything underneath your jk front to rear, there could be unseen damage, I know this first hand. In fact, post some pics of all your suspension, steering and drivetrain on here, we may catch something.

X2 on that^^ For about 3 weeks the shop thought the only thing wrong with my jeep after the wreck was body damage, but my dad is friends with the shop owner and had them check the suspension and turns out I bent both axels and cracked a driveshaft. Repair took SO long but I'm glad they found it.

go to a good "friend of a friend" body shop who will work with you.

have them write up everything to replace it to how it was before. they sumbit that to the insurance and insurance pays it. What you do with the jeep is have them replace the parts with what parts you want/provide. Insurance writes the shop a check if there is any extra$$ they give it to you if your mods exceeded what insurance pays then you owe the shop.

Alittle late, but here's the damage. I can't tell if the front crossmember is supposed to be like this or if it got bent too?

Also an update. Insurance adjuster gave me a check for $2700. To have the body work done that I can't fix is $400, the rest is jeep mod money!

No, No, No, carve out a couple hundred for the wife first. Now that's real insurance to ensure that you get the Jeep mods done

what hit you....reason for asking is that as bad luck would have it my Jeep has been rear ended twice in 6 months...once by a Caddy STS and the latest one last week was a pontian sunfire.....both times resulted in over $2000 in damage to each of the other vehicles and my Jeep needed a new plastic receiver hitch cover
