http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNhpOxVg4r4&feature=player_embedded Doesn't seem like that should hydrolock a Jeep, but it's hard to judge his speed from the awful video quality.

One thing is clear: JK's are sensitive to this issue. More than they should be.

The guy was going way too quick in that water, at one point you can see the water coming out of the grill just before it hydro locks.

Here is me going into a river trying to get out of a canyon. Did this 4 times that time with the water at the bottom of the door sill.

Im sorry looking at that video there is no reason the Jeep should have hydro locked. A little splash went up on the hood, Ive seen older Jeeps ford water that was past the grille deep.

Its not like he was even submerged.

It was just pathetic.

The problem is that little sucker at the input to the airbox. You are supposed to remove it if you are going to be going into deep water that might go over your hood so it won't get sucked into the airbox and then into the engine. I know first hand the JK can go through water that has the tailpipe submerged and it keeps on running. Was with a group in a Jeep Jam last spring and ran through all kinds of water all afternoon trying to get out of a flooded canyon and not one JK had any problems with the water. So don't blame the JK.
