I hate to be the bad guy here, but remember this part of the article:
The 2008 Jeep J8 in commercial and military form is of course, not available to the public, which seems a shame to us, as we bet Jeep enthusiasts would snap these bad boys up if given the chance. Production of what looks to be the ultimate Jeep Wrangler begins at Chrysler's production plant in Cairo, Egypt, later this month.
Sucks, but with current market conditions I bet that it's not gonna be going public anytime soon. That would cut into an already hurting Dodge pickup scene.

Wish people would give up on the diesel crap. It’s not going to be in America anytime soon. The new regulations already killed the Hummer H1 off, and it’s what’s preventing them from making the CRD here in America as well. there are emission regulations that are in place that just prevent it from being worth it, the engine would be way to bogged down to be of any use after it was modified to meet the emissions requirement due to the vehicle size. Also, why would anyone want diesel now? It’s much more expensive then super, so what’s the point? Folks need to stop wishing for a diesel and start wishing for a V8.
But besides the diesel engine keeping it out of America, the fact that we still have the militarty H1 and are looking into bigger toys for our soilders to play with, are also keeping America from wanting these. Sure the consumer market might want these, but they didn't design this for the consumer, they couldn't give one rat’s ass about the consumer. You know what they say to someone that wants one of these... "Go buy a 4 door normal jeep."
As nice as this truck is, it'll be years before they become readily available here. It’d have to be surplus units. It’d be the same as buying a surplus H1 now. They’d be old, and worn out and need a lot of work. Plus you’d probably have to have it shipped over.

Jeep J8 now available everywhere but here
When will Chrysler learn? Full story from Autoblog below:
"Who doesn't get the Jeep J8? Um, that would be the United States, Home of Jeep. Hardly seems fair... considering that pretty much every other country in the world gets a crack at the ultra-Wrangler, which comes equipped with a 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel with 158-horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. Memo to Chrysler: The Wrangler is screaming out for a small displacement diesel engine. No? Fine. We can understand the fact that this engine isn't certified for sale in the States and it would be expensive to make happen. At least the Pentastar brand could offer the J8's nearly 3,000-pound payload capacity via rear leaf springs and reinforced frame in its home market. Still no dice? Could we at least get the pickup bed as an option on the Unlimited chassis? Not likely, would be our best guess. Oh well, we can wish."
