Issues with riddler diff covers
Bought my 2012 rubicon used with 15k on the clock and i decided it would be smart to change all the fluids just incase. I bought some Riddler dana 44 diff covers since i was going to take the old ones off to clean the diffs out. The first covers i got looked good so i coated them in rvt and put all the bolts in and filled her up with red line. did this front and back. no leaks ... so i go to put the fill plug in the front and it just keeps spinning all the way in... ok so i go to the rear same thing... now im pissed i get to defective covers. i was able to save some of the fluid but not all of it. i called riddler and got some new ones sent out took about a week. so this time i take a look at them and thread the fill plug in just to make sure. Great works. so i rvt her up and stick her on. i put in all the bolts and then start tighting them down.... i get to the last bolt at the very bottom and HEY guess what the cast isent right not enough material was cut out so i cant tighten the bolt more then 3/4 of the way down. i tried to use my grinder to grind some space around the bolt but nope its to big to get in i would need a cnc or something which i dont have. im so angry with this i just want to make sure no one else has to deal with this crap

I had the same problem with my front cover. I ended up taking one of my extra sockets to the bench grinder to make it a really thin walled socket. Worked no issues. You're only tightening them down to 17 - 30 ft lbs depending on the hardware you use, so no worries on breaking the socket. Agreed you shouldn't have to, but it was an easier fix than returning the covers.
